Newsletter 7-27-16

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. Thessalonians 5:11

It is busy here In the office so I know that you are busy too with finishing your summer activities and moving on to the start of school.  I was in a Dollar store yesterday and talked with a teacher so was getting things for her classroom and the start of school.  She told me that many times she spends her own money and time on making sure school is fun as well as a place to learn.  I told her that I definitely appreciated her effort and tried hard to encourage her to continue working with the children.  As I left the store I wondered how many times we let our Children’s Ministry teachers and leaders know that we appreciate them.

So my theme for the week is to give you encouragement and ideas to share with others how much you care.

Walking Up Escalators

July 24, 2016

My father once said, “I like people who walk up escalators.” I think I know what he meant. Some people aren’t satisfied simply to be carried along with the current. They do more than what’s expected.

More than what’s convenient. God calls this type of people His people, because they dare to be different. God’s followers stand up for those on the fringes – the stepped on, the unlovely, the ignored.

Jesus Himself stood up –  for them  and stood up and stood up – until He stood up on the cross.

Survival kits are fun ways to show someone you are thinking about them and that you care.

Adopt a Volunteer

Ask adults in your church who don’t teach to be involved in your volunteer support and appreciation ministry by “adopting” a teacher. When they adopt, they’re committing to:

Provide one year of prayer support.

Keep their adopted volunteer informed of any adult class activities such as dinners or parties.

Celebrate the volunteer’s birthday.

Participate in volunteer appreciation day. That means showing up at the volunteer’s home to wash the car. They can deliver a “catered” breakfast, lunch, or dinner along with flowers and a card that says, “Thank you for serving so faithfully in your class!”

When we involve others in our church in thanking those who serve, it’s more meaningful to the volunteer and it provides the opportunity to make a powerful impact in the lives of those who become involved.

Quote:

“We say to our children, ‘Act like grown-ups,’ but Jesus said to the grown-ups, ‘Be like children.'” (Evangelist Billy Graham)

This quote reminds me that we are to be as little children, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.   Ponder on these thoughts as we finish out the week.

Pathfinder/Adventurer Leadership Convention is this coming weekend.  Please keep the leaders, presenters and attendees in your prayers.

Looking forward to hearing from you when time permits.

Thank You for all you do for the CHILDREN

About Us

The Adventurer Club is a Seventh-day Adventist Church-sponsored ministry open to all families of children in grades 1-4. Our mission is to support parents and caregivers in leading and encouraging their children in a growing, joyful love relationship with Jesus Christ.
The first few years of a child’s life sets the stage for their future.  For parents/families of pre-K through fourth grade children, our Adventurer Clubs provide a safe place to encourage the development of the necessary social and interpersonal skills they need, in an environment that promotes Christian values and responsibilities.
Families will learn a variety of topics together, from character building, nature, hobbies, safety, and much more. This club also has parenting tips and resources through the family network and is designed to help you be the best parent/caregiver you can be as you partner with your child and other families to grow your kids to be the best they can be. Most clubs meet twice a month.
