Training and certification for one of the Following Tracks

Donations Operations – Online course required.
All ACS DR credentialed, affiliated volunteers and personnel must complete this course. The various types of disasters and ACS disaster response history is reviewed. The course outlines the key components of donations management which are the collecting, sorting, storing, and distributing of donated goods. Responsible donating is discussed and the importance of government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and the public and private sectors (“whole community”) working together is presented. Introduction to Disaster Preparedness is a pre-requisite for this course.

Warehouse and Donations Management – Donations Operations certification required.
All ACS DR Coordinators and Managers are requested to complete this course. Topics critical to the setup and managing of a multi-agency donated goods warehouse are covered, including some risk management considerations. In addition, the importance of developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with Adventist entities, government agencies, voluntary organizations, the private sector, and the public is described and emphasized. Fundraising and event planning are also briefly discussed. Those registered for this course will be given preference to enroll in the ACS Forklift Certification Course.

Spiritual and Emotional Care – Recommended for pastors and elders.

This two-day intensive training program equips individuals to serve as credentialed responders after disasters and other traumatic events. Approved instructors use standardized, recognized curricula and resources developed by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF), Adventist Community Services (ACS), and others. While recognized ACS community partners may attend training events, ACS credentials are issued to Seventh-day Adventist members in good standing. Students are able to receive credentials at the following three levels of recognition:

  1. Emotional & Spiritual Care Provider I
  2. Emotional & Spiritual Care Provider II
  3. Ecclesiastical Endorsement as Community Chaplain (Disaster Response). Issued by NAD Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries (ACM) to qualified Adventist pastors in collaboration with Adventist Community Services.

*** Completion of the following ACS DR and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) independent study courses offered for free are required for the Spiritual and Emotional Care Course and highly recommended for pastors and elders. Those participating in the Spiritual and Emotional Care training must complete the online prerequisites, after which the NAD will issue your credentials.

About Us

The Adventurer Club is a Seventh-day Adventist Church-sponsored ministry open to all families of children in grades 1-4. Our mission is to support parents and caregivers in leading and encouraging their children in a growing, joyful love relationship with Jesus Christ.
The first few years of a child’s life sets the stage for their future.  For parents/families of pre-K through fourth grade children, our Adventurer Clubs provide a safe place to encourage the development of the necessary social and interpersonal skills they need, in an environment that promotes Christian values and responsibilities.
Families will learn a variety of topics together, from character building, nature, hobbies, safety, and much more. This club also has parenting tips and resources through the family network and is designed to help you be the best parent/caregiver you can be as you partner with your child and other families to grow your kids to be the best they can be. Most clubs meet twice a month.
