Commentary and Reflection:

In Judges 5 and 6, we encounter a tumultuous period in Israel’s history, marked by cycles of disobedience, oppression, repentance, and deliverance. The people of Israel found themselves oppressed by the Midianites, and in their distress, they cried out to the Lord for help (Judges 6:6). Despite their repeated rebellion, God remained faithful to His covenant and responded to their cries for deliverance.

In the midst of this turmoil, God raised up Gideon as a deliverer. Despite Gideon’s initial doubts and insecurities, the Angel of the Lord addressed him as a “mighty man of valor” (Judges 6:12), revealing God’s perspective on Gideon’s potential and the role He had ordained for him.
Gideon sought confirmation of his calling through a sign involving a fleece (Judges 6:17). Despite Gideon’s hesitancy and need for reassurance, God graciously accommodated his request, demonstrating His patience and understanding of our human frailties.
When instructed by the Lord to tear down his father’s altar to Baal, Gideon responded with obedience, albeit with fear (Judges 6:27). This act symbolized Gideon’s commitment to wholeheartedly follow God’s commands and reject idolatry, despite the potential repercussions.
The narrative of Judges 5 and 6 reminds us of God’s unwavering faithfulness, even in the midst of our failings and doubts. Like Gideon, we may wrestle with insecurities and uncertainties, but God sees beyond our limitations and equips us for His purposes. As we encounter challenges and obstacles in our lives, may we, like Gideon, trust in God’s guidance, seek confirmation through prayer and His word, and obediently follow His leading, knowing that He is with us every step of the way.
May you find strength and courage in God’s faithfulness today, trusting in His provision and guidance. May His presence fill you with peace and assurance, as you walk in obedience to His will. Amen.

About Us

The Adventurer Club is a Seventh-day Adventist Church-sponsored ministry open to all families of children in grades 1-4. Our mission is to support parents and caregivers in leading and encouraging their children in a growing, joyful love relationship with Jesus Christ.
The first few years of a child’s life sets the stage for their future.  For parents/families of pre-K through fourth grade children, our Adventurer Clubs provide a safe place to encourage the development of the necessary social and interpersonal skills they need, in an environment that promotes Christian values and responsibilities.
Families will learn a variety of topics together, from character building, nature, hobbies, safety, and much more. This club also has parenting tips and resources through the family network and is designed to help you be the best parent/caregiver you can be as you partner with your child and other families to grow your kids to be the best they can be. Most clubs meet twice a month.
