Imagine 1,500 men praising God in a surrounding of Christian fellowship! That’s exactly what happened during the past 12 months at Florida Conference Men’s Ministries Conventions.
Gatherings brought Spanish men to Palm Beach, Haitian men to Boynton Beach, and, this past March, English-speaking men to Camp Kulaqua in High Springs. Here, men of Florida and surrounding states welcomed Christian brothers from the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, and African countries to celebrate the 20th anniversary of men’s ministries in Florida Conference.
This year’s theme, “Walking With God,” was the backdrop for men to join the original founders in celebrating God’s guidance and wisdom of successful men’s ministries outreach during the past two decades.
It was 1993 when Eric Allen, Glen Altermatt, Eric Cantillo, Dick O’Ffill, and Sergio Torres met to launch the journey in which men of Florida are victoriously engaged today. Attending the needs of men far beyond the boundaries of Florida, men’s ministries quickly gained the reputation as a resource for inspiration, wisdom, and spiritual nurture.
Year after year, dynamic speakers and Christ-centered seminars have challenged the men. Like a magnet, conventions during the past 20 years have drawn men seeking personal improvement to be better role models in their families, churches, and the workplace.
Relevant topics tackled during conventions have included relationships, finances, spiritual growth, health, conflict resolution, domestic interaction, and communication. Above all else, Jesus is uplifted as the Supreme Role Model for everyone.
As a result, thousands of families have been touched by the transformation seen in their husbands, fathers, brothers, and coworkers. Local churches have benefitted by inspired leaders trained at conventions. Young males impacted by the youth track of men’s ministries are now Christian models facing society’s postmodern mindset in secular universities and beyond.
Looking forward, conventions in the coming year will highlight “Seasons of Life.” Two weekends, March 7-9 and 16-18, are scheduled for the annual English gatherings at Camp Kulaqua. Meanwhile, dates for Haitian Creole and Spanish conventions are being studied, while first-time meetings for Portuguese, Korean, and Filipino men are under consideration.
At each event, men will learn in a relaxed setting to recognize that successful living is radically impacted by the seasons of life. They’ll receive tools to identify and adapt to these changes. By recalibrating their energies and refocusing their goals, men will be trained to reach their maximum potential.

About Us

The Adventurer Club is a Seventh-day Adventist Church-sponsored ministry open to all families of children in grades 1-4. Our mission is to support parents and caregivers in leading and encouraging their children in a growing, joyful love relationship with Jesus Christ.
The first few years of a child’s life sets the stage for their future.  For parents/families of pre-K through fourth grade children, our Adventurer Clubs provide a safe place to encourage the development of the necessary social and interpersonal skills they need, in an environment that promotes Christian values and responsibilities.
Families will learn a variety of topics together, from character building, nature, hobbies, safety, and much more. This club also has parenting tips and resources through the family network and is designed to help you be the best parent/caregiver you can be as you partner with your child and other families to grow your kids to be the best they can be. Most clubs meet twice a month.
