The Florida Conference Lay Advisory Committee’s quarterly forums are held to discuss ways for churches to reach evangelism goals, foster church growth, consider recommendations from the laity, and strengthen the relationship between laity, pastors, and the Conference. The committee is composed of a chairperson, secretary, and two representatives from each of the seven regions of the Conference.
In the 30+ years since its inception, the Lay Advisory Committee has brought numerous policies and programs to the Florida Conference Executive Committee’s attention. Adopted suggestions have included:

  • Pre-session meetings in each region in advance of Constituency meetings.
  • Promote the training and utilization of Lay Pastoral Associates in churches.
  • Regular evaluations of all Conference employees.
  • Recommendation that a higher representation of lay persons serve on the Executive Committee.

The Lay Advisory’s function is to keep churches informed of various Conference programs and projects while soliciting the help of congregations as needed.
“If we are to continue to keep our unity, just as the disciples did in the early church, we must continue to listen to ideas, concepts, and troubles which our brothers and sisters share; pray that God directs us in providing help with those situations which we can address; and pray for God to intervene and help in those situations which we can do nothing but ask for His help,” says Eric Cantillo, State Lay Advisory Committee Chairperson.

About Us

The Adventurer Club is a Seventh-day Adventist Church-sponsored ministry open to all families of children in grades 1-4. Our mission is to support parents and caregivers in leading and encouraging their children in a growing, joyful love relationship with Jesus Christ.
The first few years of a child’s life sets the stage for their future.  For parents/families of pre-K through fourth grade children, our Adventurer Clubs provide a safe place to encourage the development of the necessary social and interpersonal skills they need, in an environment that promotes Christian values and responsibilities.
Families will learn a variety of topics together, from character building, nature, hobbies, safety, and much more. This club also has parenting tips and resources through the family network and is designed to help you be the best parent/caregiver you can be as you partner with your child and other families to grow your kids to be the best they can be. Most clubs meet twice a month.
