“Keep standing up to the glorious principles as commanded by our Lord,” Pastor Matthew Christo admonished the elder members of Silver Springs Shores Church in Ocala, Fla., during a sermon entitled, “Growing Old Gracefully.” In recounting the many members who died since he came to the church, Christo emphasized his desire to give roses to brethren while they were able to smell them, not at death.
While the pastor’s words gave great and precious blessings to octogenarians and older, they were also recognized with certificates and awards as they assembled in front of the audience. With appreciation for their service, they were encouraged to continue supporting this great cause of righteousness.
The celebration continued with a feast prepared in the church’s Agape Hall. At the honorary table on the platform were seated the elder members of the congregation and those who assisted in building the church. The deacons, deaconesses, and ushers were commended for the time and effort they put into this special day.
