Commentary and Reflection
Psalms 129 and 130 show us how God works in our lives. He gives victory over enemies and freedom from sin to all who seek Him earnestly. We can see God’s care for His children and His abundant mercy towards us.
In Psalm 129, the psalmist shows that, despite his hardships, he has emerged victorious because his enemies did not prevail against him. Although he endured moments of great suffering, as verse 3 says, “The plowers plowed on my back; They made their furrows long,” he acknowledges that God is just and gives him victory.
It’s lovely to know that we have a God who heals us. You may have had deep wounds in your life that have marked you. The good news for you this morning is that ” He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3). Today, you can declare victory because we have a loving Savior who heals our broken hearts and binds up our wounds, and He is just. In His time, He will bring justice for our wounds.
Psalm 130 is a desperate cry for forgiveness. The psalmist acknowledges his sin and that he cannot stand before God. This reminds us of the High Priest Joshua in the book of Zechariah chapter 3. He stands before the Lord with his sins. However, Psalm 130 says that near the Lord, there is forgiveness. The psalm ends by declaring that in Jesus, there is abundant mercy and redemption. Today, you can live in the assurance of a forgiving God who abounds in mercy. If the enemy wants to remind you of your sins, be assured they have been forgiven.
Do not let your circumstances discourage you; the Almighty is by your side. Remember that in Him is abundant redemption.
Have a beautiful day.
