South Orlando held a Community Health and Wellness Expo in April 2019.
Pastor Alex Vaz kicked off the event with prayer, followed by words of welcome
by Joy Martin, Health Fair Coordinator.
The fun began with a tour of a fire truck presented by Officer Dale of the
Orange County Fire Department, and a demonstration of how to use a fire extin-
guisher. A Kids Zone was also available, providing health, education, and enter-
tainment for the children.
Officer Harry of the Orange County Police Department gave a safety seminar
to church members and members of the community, followed by a question and
answer session.
Blood donations were received via the Big Red Bus and Kelly Lee, LPN pro-
vided blood sugar and blood pressure screenings. Representatives from Orlando
Health demonstrated first aid, CPR, and the AED (Automated External Defibrilla-
tor) while Advent Health gave a class on nutrition.
Other vendors provided hearing and vision screenings, behavior health as-
sessments, an exercise class, and individual blood circulation assessments. Access
Community, the Harbor House, Shephard’s Hope and Royal Financial all provided
information and assistance to those who attended.
Gloria Foster (Women’s Ministry Leader) made healthy smoothies, gave a
cooking class, and offered free food samples. A huge yard sale raised funds to
support our Pathfinder’s trip to Oshkosh.
Spiritual and educational materials were made available as well as a Prayer
Room for those requesting spiritual guidance.
The Health Fair proved to be a success as both the church and the community
were blessed. Many verbalized the vast amount of knowledge and information they
received through evaluation forms.
To God Be The Glory!

About Us

The Adventurer Club is a Seventh-day Adventist Church-sponsored ministry open to all families of children in grades 1-4. Our mission is to support parents and caregivers in leading and encouraging their children in a growing, joyful love relationship with Jesus Christ.
The first few years of a child’s life sets the stage for their future.  For parents/families of pre-K through fourth grade children, our Adventurer Clubs provide a safe place to encourage the development of the necessary social and interpersonal skills they need, in an environment that promotes Christian values and responsibilities.
Families will learn a variety of topics together, from character building, nature, hobbies, safety, and much more. This club also has parenting tips and resources through the family network and is designed to help you be the best parent/caregiver you can be as you partner with your child and other families to grow your kids to be the best they can be. Most clubs meet twice a month.
