Singles’ Ministries
Family Ministry Training/Certification
Family Ministry Training/Certification is part of the Florida Conference Children and Family Ministries continuing education program. The purpose of this leadership training is to train Family Ministry leaders and their teams of the local churches. All too often we are asked to undertake a ministry that is new to us and further education and guidance is needed. This training will help you to provide training so local church leaders and their teams will have a greater understanding of family issues and dynamics. This can be a one day training or a series of 6 sessions that is interactive, concise, practical and has the opportunity upon completion of all 6 sessions to receive a certificate of completion.
Pathfinders & Adventurers
A New Kind of Leader
Where ever you see a vibrant kid’s ministry, guess what else you see? Usually you will find a growing church. To be a growing church, churches need adults that love and lead kids, work together as a team, develop a strategy and focus on what matters most!
We believe that if we can get the right people in the room to have an honest conversation about what matters most, then, we can help those leaders to develop a plan to focus on the most important things.
We all want things to get better. We all want our churches to be places where leaders work together, where kids feel loved / a sense of belonging, and are connected to Jesus personally. But very few churches have a strategy to accomplish this. We can help!
This training is targeted towards leaders – adults that work with kids (Children’s Sabbath School, Family Life, Youth Sabbath School, Club Ministries – Pathfinders and Adventurers). We encourage churches to come as a team – all the leaders that work with kids – AND … with their pastor and elder!
The material presented will be based on the book, A New Kind of Leader, by Reggie Joiner. The format will be video training, discussion, planning and sharing. The pace will be intense. The outcome will be priceless.
Join us as we share an introduction to the curriculum by sharing THREE of the seven principles that will help adults to love and lead kids better.
- Principle 1 – Kids Matter – what are you doing to show that kids matter?
- Principle 2 – Every Family Matters – what are you doing to connect with a parent?
- Principle 3 – A Strategy Matters – what are you doing to work together as a team?
The presenters will be Pedro Perez and Stephen Stewart, pastors in Florida Conference. Registration is required. Registration is free. The manual will be online. The printed manual and book, “A New Kind of Leader” are available for $15 through the registration link.
Youth & Young
Adult Department
Growing Young
It is easy to look around our churches and see that they are “graying” (that our members are getting older). This training will focus on six key principles designed to helping churches “grow young” as presented in the book, Growing Young.
Join us to start a conversation about how your church can position itself to attract, involve and retain more young people. This material will be presented by Juan Rodriguez, Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries, Florida Conference.
All are welcome to attend. This training is designed to challenge a church to love the next generation well.
The six principles / strategies shared in the book (and discussed live) are:
- Unlock keychain leadership: Instead of centralizing authority, empower others—especially young people.
- Empathize with today’s young people: Instead of judging or criticizing, step into the shoes of this generation.
- Take Jesus’ message seriously: Instead of asserting formulaic gospel claims, welcome young people into a Jesus-centered way of life.
- Fuel a warm community: Instead of focusing on cool worship or programs, aim for warm peer and intergenerational friendships.
- Prioritize young people (and families) everywhere: Instead of giving lip service to how much young people matter, look for creative ways to tangibly support, resource, and involve them in all facets of your congregation. Instead of focusing on cool worship or programs, aim for warm peer and intergenerational friendships.
- Be the best neighbors: Instead of condemning the world outside your walls, enable young people to neighbor well locally and globally.
